Iain McGlashan founded The McGlashan Charitable Trust in 1992. For more than 30 years the Trust has supported access to education by providing grants to students, currently exclusively for postgraduate study and charitable organisations within the arts in Scotland. Iain died in 2019 but the work of Trust continues.
The next deadlines for applications are as follows:
- Arts and Cultural Charities -5pm on Friday 31 October 2025 and 5pm on Thursday 30 April 2026.
- Postgraduate Students – 5pm on Sunday 31 May 2026. This is for eligible students who will be studying during academic session Sept 26 – June 2027. Please see our Postgraduate Grants page for more information on how to apply.

Postgraduate Grants
The McGlashan Charitable Trust provides a number of grants of around £500-£1,500 each year for postgraduate study.
Grants to Organisations
We support arts organisations that remove socioeconomic barriers to participation in culture or educational activities.
